Follow-up Appointments

What you need to bring for your follow-up visits

It is very important that you come back for regular post-operative check-ups. Hip and knee replacements are mechanical devices which need to be checked by your surgeon.

It is important you do come back to see us, even if you have no problems with your hip. We aim to remind patients when follow-up appointments are overdue, but as people move and change phone numbers, we do ask that you stay in contact with us.

When to see us for follow-up

6 weeks post-op

Bring all your x-rays from before and after your surgery. You will need to have a new set of X-rays done just before you come to see us at the 6 week check-up.

6 months post-op

Bring a new referral from your GP. You will need to bring new x-rays to this appointment. You will have been given a referral at your previous appointment.

2, 5 and 10 years after surgery

Bring a new referral from your GP. Your GP will arrange for you to have new X-rays which you should bring to your appointment.
